About Krishnagiri District and Its History
- Krishnagiri Town is the headquarters of the Krishnagiri District in Tamilnadu. This district was separated from Dharmapuri district on 09-02-2004.
- This district has the honor of being the birthplace of Great Leader Rajaji. A famous old fort called "Syed Basha Hill Fort" is located in Krishnagiri.
- Krishnagiri is a very famous place for mangoes, Surrounded by natural resources and mountains. The main crop cultivated in the district is Mango. Nearly this district produces 3,00,000 tons every year. Two main varieties of Mangoes like Thothapuri and Alphonso have been cultivated here. The mango fair held every year in Krishnagiri is proof of that.
- This town is located very nearer to Dharmapuri, Hosur, and Bangalore. From Krishnagiri, bordering Tamil Nadu, Bangalore, the state capital of Karnataka, can be reached in a few hours.
- The history of this district was known from Indus Valley Civilization and Iron Age. When the Chola king ruled this area, this place was called "Nigarili Chola Mandalam" and "Vidhugadhazhagi Nallur". There are some Memorial Stones in this district, in the memories of brave people, who have sacrificed their lives for the kingdom in various periods, since the Sangam age.

Rajaji Memorial House
The house where Rajaji was born at Thorapalli near Hosur has been converted and maintained as his memorial.
Various objects used by Rajaji and old photographs etc. related to Rajaji are preserved and displayed there.
This memorial is about 11 kilometers from Hosur.
Thally Krishnagiri
Thali is a place with a separate attractive view, about 26 kilometer away from Hosur. Thally is Known as Little England, surrounded
by hills and has a cool climate throughout the year with natural beauty. There was a fort built in the 15th century at Denkanikottai
Fort near this town. Passengers bound for Hosur should visit Thalli without fail. If you cross Thally, you will come to the state of
Karnataka.
Hosur
