Nellukadai Sri Mariamman Kovil Nagapattinam
Nellukadai Mariamman Temple is one of the most popular Amman temples located near Nagapattinam Old Bus Stand.
The annual festival held in the month of Chithirai is popular in this temple.
Sri Neelayadhakshi Kayarohaneshwarar Temple Nagapattinam
This is a beautiful temple located near Nagapattinam Anna idol junction. This temple Goddess's name is
Neelayadhakshini. The annual Aadipura festival is very popular here.
Nagapattinam Beach
A new beach park is located near Nagapattinam Kadambadi. A multi-purpose complex has been set up for children to
play and enjoy, and comfortable seating has been provided along the beach road. Beach is an important recreational
feature of Nagapattinam. The dance festival held at Chithirai month is very famous near this beach.
Nagore Dargah
About 3 kilometers from Nagapattinam New Bus Stand, Nagore Dharga was established in the 16th century. The Kanthuri Festival
held in Nagore Dharga every year is very popular. Due to the large number of Hindus attending this dargah, Thiruneeru is also
offered.
Velankanni Church
The Velankanni Matha Temple, located 12 kilometers from Nagapattinam, is world-famous. It is noteworthy that the
Arogya Matha temple, which stands very close to the beach, is kept very clean. There are free accommodations and plenty
of paid hotels to accommodate tourists. There are permanent stalls selling various items for devotees and tourists.
People crowd can be seen at the numerous open-air restaurants along the beach near the church. The annual Velankanni
festival begins on 29th August with flag hoisting and continues for 10 days. Reach Velankanni by a 3-hour bus ride
from Tanjore.
Sikkal Singaravelan Temple
The Sikkal Singaravelan temple has been set up with an incomparable artistic technique. Carved out of a single stone,
Lord Murugan is made to look like he is sitting on a peacock. The statue is carved in such a way that the peacock
stands on one leg. It is also said that the Chola king, who thought that the sculptor who carved the statue in this
way should not be erected anywhere else, cut off the sculptor's thumb.
One of the special features of this temple is that there are shrines of Lord Shiva, Vishnu, and Anjaneyar in the very
spacious temple. This place is 30 minutes drive from Nagapattinam on the way to Tiruvarur.
Achalpuram Sivan Temple
This place is proud to have been praised by Thirugnana Sambandar. This famous Shivthalam is near the Kollidam next to
Chidambaram. It is home to famous musical geniuses.
Vedaranyam
The place Vedaranyam where Rajaji is proud to have conducted satyagraha against the British. This place also has the name
of Thiru Marai Kadar. The festival held here during the full moon is very famous.
Kodiyakarai
About 56 km from Nagapattinam, the Kodiyakarai Wildlife Sanctuary is a must-see place. In this sanctuary, visitors can view
Rare birds and animals. The beach here doubles the pleasure for tourists.
Thirunallar
Tirunallaru is the main place for worshipping Saneeswaran, situated near Karaikal, about 27 kilometers from Nagapattinam.
It is popular for thousands of people to dip their heads in oil in this very small pond on the day of Sanipeyarchi.
Ettukudi
On the way from Kilvelur to Thirukkuvalai, you can go to Ettukudi. One of the 18 Siddhas was buried here.
Ettukudi is one of the famous Murugan shrines in Tamil Nadu.
