First Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu
- The first general election to the Chennai Legislative Assembly was held in November 1920. In it only those who have property qualifications were recognized as voters.
- Mylapore recorded the highest voter turnout of 52 percent in the first election with a voter turnout of 24.9 percent in Tamil Nadu
- In this election Congress boycotted the election as per Gandhi's request. Needhi Katchi Party's aggressive campaigning and promises of reservation for non-Brahmins led Needhi Katchi Party to victory.
- Chennai Rajdhani Governor Willington invited Justice Party leader Thiagaraya Chettiar to form the government. But, he turned out that invitation.
- Subbarayalu Naidu became the first Tamilnadu Chief Minister in his place. The first cabinet of the Justice Party was in office till 11 September 1923.
