  • Trichy city is the headquarters of the Trichy district in Tamilnadu. Trichy is well known for its Malaikottai. Trichy is a historic city located in the heart of Tamil Nadu surrounded by River Kaveri. Trichy is a famous travel destination in Tamilnadu with many temples and monuments.
  • Regional Engineering College and Golden Rock Locomotive Workshop are notable landmarks of Trichy. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited is one of the major industries located in Trichy.
  • Tiruchirapalli was ruled by different emperors in various periods. This district was ruled by Great King Cholas for long days. After 590 A.D, it was under the control of Pallavas and Pandyas. Again, Trichy was captured by Cholas at 880 A.D. After 1225, this area was ruled by different emperors like Mughals, Vijayanagar Nayaks, Muslims, French, Chandra Sahib, Mohamed Ali and finally, It was rule by British.
  • When the Cholas ruled with Uraiyur as their capital, Trichy became an important trading city. In the 16th century, the Nayakar kings who ruled Madurai conquered Trichy and Madurai from the Mughals. It was then that a new fort and Theppakulam were built in Trichy.
  • The hill fort, which gives pride of place to Kottai Nagar, is one of the oldest hill forts in the world. Srirangam, which is considered to be the foremost among 108 Vaishnava temples, Kallanai, which has stood for 19 centuries, Hazrat Thable Alam Badhusa Nathervali Dargah which is proud to be the dargah set up in the south and which is more than 1000 years old, are some of the special features of Trichy.

Malaikottai
A short distance past the Trichy theppakulam marks the gateway to the mountain fort. If you go up through the stairs you will find the Arulmigu Uchi Pillaiyar Temple. Nearby, it has a temple of Lord Shiva. From the top of the Malaikottai, you can enjoy the beautiful view of Trichy city. Below the Shiva temple are two cave temples built during the Pallava period. There are frequent buses to this area from Trichy Central Bus Station.

Srirangam
Srirangam is the Tirupati of Trichy, Surrounded by the Cauvery and Kollidam rivers. The temple has the tallest Raja Gopuram in the South and has a total of 21 Gopurams. It is remarkable that no other temple in India has such a large space. The Srirangam temple was built by many kings in different eras starting from the Chola kings to the Nayakar kings. Vaikunta Ekadasi Utsavam is a very popular festival here. Srirangam is about 6 kilometers from Trichy Central Bus Stand.

Jambukeswarar Temple Thiruvanaikaval
One of the Pancha Bhoota Temple, Thiruvanaikaval is one of the famous Shiva Temples. Here main god Jambukeswarar appears with Akilandeswari amman. Srirangam temple and this temple were built at the same time. This place is before Srirangam. The temple is open from morning 6 am to night 9 pm.

Samayapuram Mariamman Temple
Samayapuram Mariamman temple, which is considered to be the most noble of the Shakti Peedam in India, is about 18 kilometers from Trichy. In chithirai month, the Chariot Festival, Theppotsavam, Panguni Uthiram, and Poochorithal festival etc. are very famous in this temple. A special prayers and abishekams are performed here every Sunday.

Vayalur Murugan Temple
Vayalur is about 18 kilometers from Trichy. The place is located in the area surrounded by beautiful fields. Various tirupanigal have been done to the temple by Kirupanandha Variyar Swami.

Arulmigu Uthammar Kovil
Karumbanur Utthamar Temple, one of the 108 Vaishnava shrines dedicated to the Azhwars, is located about 9 kilometers from Trichy. There are also temple of mummoorthigal here. This place is also called Kadambavanam.

Sri Ayyappan Temple Tiruchirappalli
The Ayyappan temple is elegantly set up in a very beautiful environment and is 1 km away from the Central Bus Stand. The temple is open from 5 am to 8.30 pm.

Pundarikakshan Perumal Temple Thiruvellarai
This Vaishnava temple, which was sung by Thirumangai and Periyalvar, is located about 24 kilometers from Tiruchirappalli. One of the 108 Vaishnava shrines in this temple, the moolavar is known as Pundarika Perumal.

Thirunedunkulam Nedungalanathar Temple
Thirunedunkulam Temple, a temple of Siva, praised by thirugnanasambandar, is located at a distance of about 4 kilometers from Thuvakudi (Tanjore Road). Main god Thirunedungalanathar is seen with oppilla nayagi amman.

St.Joseph Church Trichy
St. Joseph's Church is located 3 km from Trichy Central Bus Stand, near TheppakKulam. More than 150 years old, this ancient temple stands majestically with beautiful towers.

Hazrat Thable Alam Badhusa Nathervali Dargah
Nathervali Dargah, the first Dargah built in the South, has a history of more than 1000 years. This Dargah is located in Trichy Fort area.

Puliancholai
About 73 kilometers from Trichy city, this place is situated in the cool environment against the backdrop of the kollimalai Hills. Ayyar river and its waterfall and the forest here are the perfect places to visit.

Gunaseelam
Gunaselam is about 25 kilometers from Trichy. It is believed that mentally ill people will be cured if they stay in this temple.

Mukkombu Dam
Mukkombu is a must visit place for tourists visiting Trichy. This place also has the name melanaikattu. It is situated near the road to Karur beyond Srirangam.

Kallanai Dam
Kallanai is located at a distance of about 19 kilometers from Trichy city. This dam was built 19 centuries ago by Karikala Cholan, it is remarkable that it is still standing intact. Kallanai is one of the main tourist centers of Trichy district, surrounded by lushness and beauty.

Trichy Periya Kadai Veethi
From Trichy Gandhi Market area to Malaikottai area, visitors can buy groceries, textiles, etc. in this wide open street. Singara thoppu and chinna kadai theruvu have reputed companies. There are plenty of decent hotels in the nearby mainguard Gate area.
