About Tiruppur District and Its History
- Tiruppur district was formed after separating from Coimbatore and erode districts in Tamilnadu by the year 2008. Taluks like Avinashi, Palladam, Udumalaipettai, and Tiruppur from Coimbatore and Taluks like Kangeyam, Dharapuram from Erode were separated and formed new district Tiruppur in Tamilnadu. The districts of Coimbatore, Erode, Karur and Dindigul and the state of Kerala border Tirupur district.
- Tiruppur is the 32nd district of Tamilnadu. Tiruppur is well known as the textile city of Tamilnadu. The district is famous for its cotton market and baniyan mills. Tirupur is a wonderful district which brings good income to India through banyan export.
- There cannot be anyone who does not know about Uthukuli Butter near Tiruppur. Rivers like Noyyal, Amaravathi, Somanur, Uthukuli, Vanchipalayam, Koolipalayam flow here.
- This is the district where the martyr Tiruppur Kumaran was born, who was killed by the British government in the Freedom struggle.

Udumalaipettai
Udumalaipet is an industrial town located 59 kilometers from Tirupur. It is a very beautiful city
surrounded by the Western Ghats on three sides. There are many textile mills here. It is a very
beautiful town to see.
Tiruppur Kumaran Memorial
Tirupur Kumaran, the martyr of the Freedom struggle, was beaten to death by the British on
11th January 1932. Kodi Katha Kumaran has an important role in the history of the freedom struggle.
His memorial day is observed on 11th January every year. A Tiruppur Kumaran Memorial was built
in 1991 in Tiruppur to honor this martyr.
Narayana Kavi Memorial Udumalaipettai
Poet Udumalai Narayanakavi instilled social awareness in Tamil film songs. Born in 1899, a memorial hall
has been set up in his hometown. His biographical photos are displayed here.
Thirumoorthi Hills
Amaralingeswarar Temple is located at the base of Tirumurthimalai. There is a dam nearby these hills.
The unique feature of this waterfall is that it keeps pouring water throughout the year. It is 20 km
from Udumalaipet on the Coimbatore - Palani highway. The Tirumalai Falls here have become popular
in recent times. Tourists have started flocking here in large numbers.
Amaravathi Dam
Amaravathi Dam is located at a distance of 25 kilometers from Udumalaipet. An Indira Gandhi Wildlife
and National Park has been set up here. The crocodile farm here is a must-see. Tourists can be
surprised to see a lot of crocodiles here.
Sri Kottai Mariamman Temple Tiruppur
Sri Kottai Mariamman Temple in Tirupur is nestled in the thick of trees near the Noyyal river.
This century-old temple is located inside the Tipu Sultan Fort. In the month of Maasi, the
goddess Mariamman festival is celebrated here.
Arulmigu Visweswarar Temple
Tirupur Visveswarar Temple is 500 years old. The lingam in this temple was brought from Kasi.
So it is the belief of the devotees that if you visit the main god here, you will get the blessings
of Kashi Vishwanath Lord Shiva.
