About Valluvar Kottam Chennai
- Passing the Kamarajar Memorial and heading north, you will find the imposing Valluvar Kottam at the Nungambakkam entrance.
- Valluvar Kottam was built by Mr. M. Karunanidhi, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu during the period from 1975 to 1976.
- It used to be the dumping ground of the entire city. But later, the land was reclaimed and used to build Valluvar Kottam.
- 106 feet tall beautiful stone chariot with a 7 feet high statue of Thiruvalluvar is installed here.
- 1330 Thirukkurals are placed on the pillars in Kural Mani Maadams, one of the special in Valluvar Kottam.
- The absence of pillars in the huge arena which was built in front of the chariot is remarkable.
